TAKEN (Taken #1) by Erin Bowman

Book blurb (from goodreads):
There are no men in Claysoot. There are boys—but every one of them vanishes at midnight on his eighteenth birthday. The ground shakes, the wind howls, a blinding light descends…and he’s gone.

They call it the Heist.

Gray Weathersby’s eighteenth birthday is mere months away, and he’s prepared to meet his fate–until he finds a strange note from his mother and starts to question everything he’s been raised to accept: the Council leaders and their obvious secrets. The Heist itself. And what lies beyond the Wall that surrounds Claysoot–a structure that no one can cross and survive.

Climbing the Wall is suicide, but what comes after the Heist could be worse. Should he sit back and wait to be taken–or risk everything on the hope of the other side?

My review:

This book whilst not my favourite  was still a decent read. The plot was in my opinion very original since I have never heard of a book quite like this one. Gray was a interesting character to read about but I found that he could be a little repetitive at times saying things over again whilst in different words sent the same message, but this didn't happen all to often and to be honest is quite hard to avoid when writing a book I think. I liked the romance between Emma and Grey in the book but I felt like Erin Bowman rushed into it a bit fast and should of let Emma develop her feeling better in stead of going from: I am not interested to don't leave I love you.  I also would of liked to have seen some more character development because we more or less started of with a guy with anger management issues and who follows his gut a little to often to a guy who still has more or less anger management issues and follows his gut to much.
I did like the twists and turns that came with reading this book though. Even though some people might of seen some of them coming I didn't so some of them did come as kind of a shock to me.
Overall I would say that this was a well written book and would give it 3 out of 5 stars.
